I’ve been thinking about ring cushions. I’m going to have my little cousin from New York be the ring bearer. Hopefully he can attend.
Here are some of the ring cushions I’ve found.
This one is quite pricey at almost £50 ($100). Its a golden waterlilly and would perfectly match my gold theme (sigh!)
But my absolute favourite is:
These ring cushions costs about $25 in the US but £20 in UK. I’m really sick of how everything is double expensive here! Maybe I should do the smart thing and go to NY like …

I think an easy way to dress up your table, add colour and make it look elegant without breaking the bank is to put ribbons around the napkins. Since I’ve decide on a gold theme, I’m going to have gold ribbons around the napkins. The only problem with a colour like gold is that you have to make sure it doesnt come across gaudy. I took inspiration from the first picture in this box below:
For a more gold theme:
Most ribbon companies sell these ribbons for a pricey £2 a meter. …

I’ve been thinking of some ways to personise the wedding invitation. These round stamps can be used to stamp the envelopes on the back:
Some of the websites I have been to make you design your own stamp which can take ages. I would prefer if they already had samples like this one that you could just slightly modify:
You can then use your stamps to personalise gift wrap. What a neat idea - although we have to be careful not to smudge the seal after its made.
If you really wanted to …

10 incarnations of bridezillas
The dictionary classifies a ‘Bridezilla’ as a bride to be who becomes so focused on the wedding that she becomes difficult and obnoxious. But are all brides to be like that? Sure, women love attention to detail and the day is all about the bride, but from my experiences, I have met so many other brides to be who do not fit the generic ‘Bridezilla’ tag. Not all brides have to be bossy, demanding, stressed and rude. I met a whole range of women and along …

I was looking for a novel way to announce our wedding with “Save the Date” magnet but I found some people announced it with a box of mints. A few samples are:
These mints have also been used as wedding favours. I read on some blogs that its very appropriate for wedding favours as guests need some mints after their hearty meal.
My fiance and I like this one because its really sweet, not sure if its elegant enough for our wedding, what do you think? I would prefer something with the …

I thought I’d just write a few pointers about what to do and dont in Dubai now that I’ve been there. Some of the photos are from my own camera:
* I’d recommend the Big Bus Tour. Its the bus thats burgendy and yellow and we have them in London as well. They operate in Dubai and it cost around 130 DHRs (I think thats about 20 UK pounds) for a 48 hour ticket. I think the full rate is 160 but we used the coupon from the inflight magazine which …

As promised, I am now writing a detailed post about getting my ring from Cara Jewellers. I read lots of posts on the internet, mainly from TripAdvisor on Cara. I hope that my own experiences can help someone else in their quest for the perfect engagement ring.
A few days before I left for Dubai, Kiran from Cara Jewellers called me and gave me his number to call when I arrive. He said he would send his car out to get me. I tried his number almost a hundred times but …

Just back from Dubai, will post loads in the next few days about wedding ideas. I checked my email and have loads of emails from my mum and dad who are preparing for our engagement party to be held on August 1, 2008. My dad wanted me to approve the wording for the invitation. I laughed so much at this original wording:
(Bride’s father and mother)
and (Groom’s father and mother)
Solicit the pleasure of your esteemed presence on the occasion of
the engagement of their children
(Bride and Groom)
on (Date)
(Time)
at (Venue)
Maybe its something about …

In the last few days, I had my VISA approved, tickets booked and Hyatt reservations confirmed. We’re off to Dubai tonight and be back after 4 nights. I’m sooo excited! My future sister in law wrote me an email to say “Bring home that diamond!”
I’m really happy about two benefits from this trip: One, as we applied for a joint bank account with HSBC, we opted for the HSBC Plus account which has free travel insurance. We pay about 12 pound a month together, and the fee makes up for …

I thought I’d write about my own experiences of applying for VISA for Dubai as an Indian national and applying for Indian VISA for my fiance’s family who are all British. I couldnt find much information on official embassy websites so I had to figure my own way out. I found other people’s posts on discussions boards really useful and hopefully this information can help someone one day.
VISAs for Dubai:
Dont call up the UAE embassy on their premium number where you have to pay per minute and I only got …
