Engagement Invitation wording

16 July 2008 10,694 views One Comment

Just back from Dubai, will post loads in the next few days about wedding ideas. I checked my email and have loads of emails from my mum and dad who are preparing for our engagement party to be held on August 1, 2008. My dad wanted me to approve the wording for the invitation. I laughed so much at this original wording:

(Bride’s father and mother)

and (Groom’s father and mother)

Solicit the pleasure of your esteemed presence on the occasion of

the engagement of their children

(Bride and Groom)

on (Date)

(Time)

at (Venue)

Maybe its something about me studying law but I do not think the word ‘solicit’ need to be anywhere near a wedding.

Instead, I’ve chosen this wording:

(Bride’s father and mother)

and (Groom’s father and mother)

request the pleasure of your company

to celebrate the engagement of their children

(Bride & Groom)

With dinner and drinks

on (Date)

(Time) at (Venue)

Kindly RSVP by 25 July 2008: email and phone

Regrets: No children
