Fiance to Wife and Bridezilla on the way!

Engage-Mints!

July 20th, 2008

I was looking for a novel way to announce our wedding with “Save the Date” magnet but I found some people announced it with a box of mints. A few samples are:

These mints have also been used as wedding favours. I read on some blogs that its very appropriate for wedding favours as guests need some mints after their hearty meal.

My fiance and I like this one because its really sweet, not sure if its elegant enough for our wedding, what do you think? I would prefer something with the tuxedo style but with the wording “Mint to be together”

We’re also trying to decide if we should use this candle as a wedding favour. The words represent “together” in Chinese and since we are hoping to book the wedding on August 9, 2009, the number 9 means “forever” and could go well with these candles.

I’ve found that these items cost around $2.50 in the US and £2.50 or more in the UK. That means people in the UK are paying more than double for the same items! I wish I could directly contact a factory in China. I have emailed one factory and hope they’ll respond soon if they can make some for our wedding. The other alternative is to see if one of my fiance’s cousin can find it in a famous wedding shop in Hong Kong. I hope it is not too much of a hassle for her.

We were discussing when we should send our Save the Date announcements. Some brides on wedding blogs have mentioned that they mailed them exactly a year ahead of the wedding. My fiance thinks that people forget if its too far ahead. At the same time, we have to give notice to some of our friends who are traveling very far to attend the wedding. Most people need to book holidays a few months ahead. So we’ve decided that we’ll send out our Save the Date annoucement around February, after Chinese New Years :) I think six months ahead is a good time to send these out and invitations should follow atleast 2 months before the wedding.
