Vera Wang at Selfridges
So on friday, I went to Selfridges to show my cousin who is a fashion designer, the two wedding dresses I am considering. I was considering the “three roses” and the “beatrice” dress. He said that the “three roses” suits my body shape and is quite affordable (£2,000). I had thought that dress only comes in a size 2 but the sales assistant said that they take measurements and each dress is made in 6 months time. The beatrice dress is absolutely beautiful but at over £8000 it is a bit too much. It is a beautiful mermaid style.
I was a bit irritated that I had to make an appointment to view the dress. When I went to the sample sale, they just let you try on the dresses. I asked for the earliest appointment and they gave me an appointment for tuesday. When I asked about availability during weekends, they said that they were fully booked but that they could take my name and number and put it on a waiting list. I didnt get a call during the weekend so I assume everyone kept their appointments. I cant believe how irritating they could but my cousin that the designers like to give a feeling of exclusivity.
I forgot to wear my engagement ring when I went to view the dresses. I think its very important to wear it so they take you seriously. At the sample sale, I saw two bohemian students walking around and none of the sales assistants came to help them. My cousin said that if he was a salesman, he would look at the ring to gage a person’s budget. I dont think a ring would necessarily indicate someone’s budget - someone might spend more on the ring and less on a dress or the other way around!
