If you are planning on having a bespoke dress, here are some words to help you: 

Satin: Smooth, lustrous silk weave with a glossy face (front) and dull back

Duchesse Satin: Full-bodied and glossy satin

Gosgrain Satin: Fine-ribbed and glossy satin

Satin Chiffon: Plain-woven satin with a sheer finish

Satin Crepe: Soft satin fabric with a slighly pebbly feel
Silk: Luxurious natural fabric available in a variety of weaves and weights

Silk Brocade: Heavy fabric with an interwoven raised design

Silk Chiffon: Delicate, plain-woven, transparent fabric

Silk Faille: Heavy, flat-ribbed matt fabric

Silk Jersey: Soft, fluid material with a satin or matt finish

 

Raw Silk: Uneven, lustrous fabric

Organza: Sheer, crisp fabric

Lace: Open-weave fabric often used for trims and embellishment

Cordered Lace: Pain lace that has been outlined with a fine silk cord, often embellished with pearls and sequins

French Lace: Plain lace that has been outlined with a fine silk cord, often embellished with pearls and sequins. 

Zibeline: Crisp, full-bodied material with a matt finish. 

 

Silk Gazar: Textured silk

Silk Mikado: Elegant sculptured and lustrous fabric

Silk Shatung: Rought textured, plain weave fabric

Silk Taffeta: Crisp, smooth fabric with an iridescent finish

Silk Tulle: Fine, sheer, openweave net

Gossamer Silk Tulle: Ultra fine, lightweight, sheet and open weave net
