Wedding Speech Inspiration
Review of “The Wives’ book for the Wife who’s Best in Everything”
This Christmas, my fiance’s sister gave me the book “The Wives’ Book for the Wife who is Best at Everything.” I’ve seen the “Best in Everything” book in other topics so it was a pleasant suprise to receive this one! Its quite a good book with light reading - it has a bit of everything for everyone. It starts by introducing the role of the woman in the early days when there were no electronic devices and how the woman’s role as a wife has evolved. For example, the Modern Wife has swapped…
Oven Gloves for Manicures
A Shopping Basket for a briefcase
Baking days for Pamper Days
Sewing for Shopping
and… Laundry for Lunch!
There are tips with lists of Do’s and Don’ts, quizzes about what type of wife you are, cleaning tips, and even recipes thrown in. What I found most interesting were the facts and stories about infamous housewives including celebrity ones.
I also enjoyed reading some of the witty quotes sprinkled throughout the book. I’ve copied some of them down because I think you could use them a inspiration for wedding speeches (hint hing: bridesmaids and best men)
” I think men with a pierced ear are better prepared for marriage. They’ve experienced pain and bought jewelry” - Rita Rudner, Comedienne.
“Marriage has many pains but celibacy has no pleasures” - Samuel Johnson.
“Sometimes I wonder if men and women really suit each other. Perhaps they should live next door to each other and visit now and then.” - Katharine Hepburn.
“Never go to bed mad. Stay up and Fight” - Phyllis Diller, Comedienne.
“In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens
In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens.
In the third year, they both speak and the neighbour listens”
“For a marriage to be a success, every woman and every man should have their own bathroom” - Catherine Zeta-Jones
“The problem with marriage is that it ends every night after making love, and it must be rebuilt every morning before breakfast” - Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
