Wedding Flowers

Did you know that in Victorian times, the groom ordered the bonquet? I’m glad that brides now enjoy the tradition of choosing their own bonquet. Here are some rules I found on a wedding video:

1. Dont scrimp on your wedding bonquet, it is the most important floral arrangement of the day and the most photographed. It is also the first thing people see when the bride walks down the aisle.

2. Your bonquet should reflect you, not outshine you. It should not be too big or too small.

3. Ask if your flower will leave a residue on your dress. Sometimes the stems can ruin your dress.

4. Incorporate your favourite flower into the design.

5. Or tie the ribbon in the colour of your wedding.

6. Religious brides can incorporate rosary into the bonquet or carry the bonquet with a rosary.

7. Who says you cant put some bling in your bonquet? Some people choose to have crystals and jewellry in their bonquet.

8. Traditionally, brides carried the bold coloured bonquet and the bridesmaids carried the softer colours. You can now choose any arrangement, choosing to match all the bridesmaids or having all the bonquets match a particular colour scheme or design scheme.

9. Traditional wedding flowers include roses (red) and lily of the valley. Try peonies (I love them!) Peonies only grow in England from mid May to early July. Or foreign grown peonies grow from April to November.
