So here are the wedding invitations we ordered from India. After months and months of trawling through the internet and stationary stores, we finally decided on a green theme and then looked online. A friend of ours had sent us some beautiful wedding invitations in the post - unfortunately I’ve already thrown them out- so I asked her where she got them from. She said she used an online company called Indian Wedding Card (duh!) but that her sister had mixed reviews about them. So I went online and found …

This evening when I went to visit my fiance’s parents, they gave me the invitations to our Chinese banquet. Apparently, Chinese restaurants where you book your banquet give you a template invitation and you can insert your details. This must certainly save some costs of the wedding because I know Americans spend around $1500 for their invitations… well atleast the nice bespoke designer ones. My sister in law immediately remarked that they were not as flimsy as the usual Chinatown variety (I wonder how flimsy?) It is made of a …

A few days ago, I went in for my appointment at Bridal Alterations, which is part of Designer Alterations at Queenstown Road in Battersea. The Pronovias store recommended this alterations service. If you buy dresses at the Pronovias store, they have their own in-house alterations but for the dresses they sell at sample sales, they recommend an external alterations service company. I looked at their brochure and my cousin, the fashion designer estimated that the alterations would cost about £700. Thats the price of a new dress for some people …

I’ve come across some photos from other people’s receptions which follow the green theme. I love how the combination of greens, yellows and browns in this arrangement. I’ve made some table covers as well and its such an easy to way add more colour to your tables:
For a simple way to insert green into the table decorations, Im planning on using a simple tulip arrangement like this one. However, I think 9 tulips would only be suitable for a small table.
And finally, I am going to aim to secure these …

I saw a query in the newspaper about the cheapest time to visit New York. This might be of use to those planning honeymoons. I can imagine that after the hefty wedding bill, brides are looking for the best bargains on holidays as well.
The cheapest time to visit anywhere is when no one else wants do. On American public holidays, they are more likely to want to be at home with their families. Get an American calendar and pick few holiday weekends like Memorial Day (25 May) Labour Day (7 …

On saturday night, Living TV had a feature on Jade Goody’s wedding. For those unfamiliar with her, she is a UK TV celebrity who made a name for herself on reality TV. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer earlier this year and has organised a wedding in a week’s time to her boyfriend Jack Tweed. Jade is known to be a chavvy South Londoner but I thought her wedding was quite beautiful and the wedding vows were very touching. I even made my fiance sit through parts of their wedding …

For the first time, single people now outnumber their married peers with fewer than a quarter of a million couples expected to get married this year. Studies have shown that married couples tend to live longer than single or co-habiting peers because they tend to eat healthier diets, smoke and drink less and seek medical help earlier when faced with a problem.
But, not all health benefits can be easily explained by researchers. For example, married men and women are less likely to have arthritis, diabetes, back problems, migraines, varicose veins, …

Today I went to see different types of veils to match my Pronovias dress. I had called the Pronovias store on Bond Street to ask if they had the veils to match my dress. The assistant on the phone said she found one designed specially for the “Nerveo” dress and it was £310. I thought that was a bit pricey but certainly cheaper than the veil at Carolina Castiligano which was £1000. I don’t know how these designers charge something that is not even a piece of cloth! Throughout this …

Dear all,
I have upgraded the blog and given it more of a clean and professional look. The site was looking a bit shabby and I thought to myself, it’s time to upgrade and modernise! So hear it is, I hope that you like it!
If you see some blank blocks or weird text, don’t worry for now.. I am in the process of ironing all the bugs and glitches.
I have also just put in a new forum which should allow a community where we can share ideas and I can answer …
