Our Chinese invitations
This evening when I went to visit my fiance’s parents, they gave me the invitations to our Chinese banquet. Apparently, Chinese restaurants where you book your banquet give you a template invitation and you can insert your details. This must certainly save some costs of the wedding because I know Americans spend around $1500 for their invitations… well atleast the nice bespoke designer ones. My sister in law immediately remarked that they were not as flimsy as the usual Chinatown variety (I wonder how flimsy?) It is made of a thick material in the traditional chinese colours of red and gold. The matching envelope is made of a special paper with the signs for marriage invitations embossed on it.
This is the front, with the signs Double Happiness in the middle:
At the back, there is a cute picture of an oriental couple, we obviously look nothing like them:
There are blank spaces to put your own details in both Chinese and in English.
In my excitement, I started writing all the invitations and taping the backs. I realised too much tape can make an invitation look too ugly:
Just a small discreet tape at the back would have done the job (I realise too late!!)
