Our Wedding Invitations from India
So here are the wedding invitations we ordered from India. After months and months of trawling through the internet and stationary stores, we finally decided on a green theme and then looked online. A friend of ours had sent us some beautiful wedding invitations in the post - unfortunately I’ve already thrown them out- so I asked her where she got them from. She said she used an online company called Indian Wedding Card (duh!) but that her sister had mixed reviews about them. So I went online and found thousands of cards. Some of them are very cheesy and some a bit too traditional and religious. We were afraid of making our card too ‘Indian’ so I chose the ‘non religious’ variety whilst searching. Finally, I narrowed it down to the colour scheme. If you have no idea at all, try colour scheme or material and you’d waste less time.
So here they are:
The envelope is gold coloured and of thick material, with three flowers embossed on it and small sticker stuck it.
This is the back of the envelope and the front of the card. I didnt like the pink lotus flower at the sides but the printers were not able to change that. The printers also gave me a small gold sticker to close the envelope. I didnt find them too useful, particularly when I was mailing them abroad so I had to reinforce them with celotape.
The insides of the card, where the two inserts were enclosed:
And finally, the two inserts. Note that the map of our venue is extra huge - this is what happens when you let your fiance do the last editing!!!
I found the card service not very efficient but the product was totally worth it. It sometimes takes them a day to send back the edited versions. So dont order it if you need it before you leave India or within a very short time frame - as we were in! If you order a sample, this is refunded when you order a minimum of 50 cards.
Interestingly, the same friend who recommended the wedding card company had a Hindu ceremony later and she used the same invitations, except in a different colour and in a different material. How coincidental was it that we both picked the exact same card out of the thousands from the same shop? I hope she is not regretting that she recommended the invitation company. In any case, she sent hers before mine so it would only make our guests chuckle!
