Celebrity Weddings this Weekend - Speidi, Salma Hayek and Denise van Outen

This weekend saw a bonanza of Celebrity Weekend. First off, we had the infamous Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt - or more popularly known as ‘Speidi’ married in Los Angeles on Saturday the 25th of April. They eloped to Mexico last year but there was a whole discussion whether their marriage was ‘legal’ or not or just another PR stunt. Well to clear all doubt, Heidi wore a Monique Lhullier dress as they exchange wows at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena. Unromantically, MTV was there to capture the event for …

Ballroom and Latin Dances

Whist trying to find a Ballroom dancing course for my fiance and I, I stumbled upon some descriptions of the dance itself. At the same time, I was on a chat where brides were discussing table names. For those dance lovers out there, why not name your tables after the different dances? If you’re not keen on that, heres some information before you dive into the world of Ballroom and Latin Dancing…
Foxtrot
The Foxtrot was the most significant development in all of ballroom dancing. The combination of quick and slow steps …

Bracelets for Bridesmaids

Im going to use this blog to shamelessly advertise my very talented and inspiring friend’s Finnish handmade business - Onni Designs. My internationally traveled and educated friend, Stephanie Seege recently told me about her jewelry business. We only got back in touch recently but I first met her when I was 17 years old at an international conference in Washington D.C. and New York City. When I checked her website, I was so impressed by the beautiful designs and her story of how she started her business. Onni means luck …

Cupcake Wreaths

I just found this creative cupcake creation on another blog. I dont think I’ll make a wreath like this because it looks a bit like those Halloween/Christmas wreaths you put on your door…but if this is your “thang” as my cousin says…
Alternatively, I love the idea of making flowers from a cupcake - this could be an interesting way to dress up your little cupcakes - maybe even using different coloured cupcake cases?

and up close…

Instructions:
1. Begin by pinning the end of your ribbon to the backside of your …

Classical Wedding Music

I’ve been speaking regularly with my harpist for music for the wedding. I’m hiring a harpist for two hours for our wedding (30 minutes when guests arrive; 30 minutes during the ceremony; then an hours break and an hour’s music for the meal) She first suggested some light classical for the guests arrival - e.g. Debussy’s Premiere Arabesque, Rachmaninov’s Eighteenth Variation (from Somewhere in Time), Delibes’ Flower Duet, Paradisi’s Toccata, Massenet’s Theme from Thais etc.
For the ceremony, I made a special request for the Trumpet Voluntary song. My brother …

Real Housewives of Orange County Wedding

Tonight on Diva TV, Lauri Waring from Real Housewives of Orange County got married! Her ceremony was absolutely beautiful and has already given me so many ideas for our wedding because they follow the green, white and gold colour theme. Even her bridesmaids dresses are similar to the ones I have picked. Unfortunately my fiance and Lauri’s husband are separated by a few million, and we obviously cannot afford to hang crystals and orchids. Funnily enough, I even stumbled upon a site offering acrylic crystals like the ones featured at …

Hanging your Wedding Photos

Whilst out on London’s thursday night shopping, I found myself on Tottenham Court Road and went into all the home furniture stores along the long stretch - starting with Habitat, Heals and Next. I’ve often heard that the British are obsessed about their homes, and even my fiance is very keen on property. Unfortunately, he’s more interested in amassing property than decorating it and it often takes me ages to convince him to buy furniture. We have a big large wall that remains untouched and I’ve been thinking of either …

Parisian Influence

My fiance and I visited Paris over this weekend and the city was so wonderful and inspiring. Whilst walking by Lafayette, the main shopping district, I saw these beautiful window displays. I love the use of balloons in a non-trashy way. These balloons in different sizes actually look really stylish if you have a similar coloured lighting to go with it.

These are the individual window displays, the first in yellow colour theme, the second in blue:

Then I came across other window displays that featured home wares - I love the …

Worried about Alterations?

Are you thinking “Oh NO” after you sent your wedding dress in for alterations? I did today. After meeting the lovely shop assistant at the veil store, I got completely stressed out about my alterations service. The last time I went in for my initial alterations consultation, I had a very bad feeling about getting my dress done at the particular service. I was already charged a lot for doing the back and the sides and my budget for alterations did not allow me to have my hems also shortened. …
