Tonight on Diva TV, Lauri Waring from Real Housewives of Orange County got married! Her ceremony was absolutely beautiful and has already given me so many ideas for our wedding because they follow the green, white and gold colour theme. Even her bridesmaids dresses are similar to the ones I have picked. Unfortunately my fiance and Lauri’s husband are separated by a few million, and we obviously cannot afford to hang crystals and orchids. Funnily enough, I even stumbled upon a site offering acrylic crystals like the ones featured at Lauri’s wedding for $5.99! Ahem, I dont think I’ll be ordering those any time soon. 

The happy couple were married at their garden at home, which was transformed into the Garden of Eden by their wedding planner. Her bridesmaids and maids of honour wore green dresses and the bride wore Manolo Blahnik heels and a dress designed by  Project Runway contestant Austin Scartlett. Lauri herself confessed that she chose that particular dress because it made her “look skinniest.” I’ve been reading a lot of other blogs about the wedding and many people are berating Lauri and George’s extravagance. My opinion is that if you have the money and you want to spend it – do it! I know in this economy, it is seen to be crass to throw a lot of money around but it is their big day and they should be able to make it as magical as they want it to be without having to justify it or having to regret it. And this applies to people who also have no money and dont want to spend too much – a wedding is your own special day and should reflect your style, not what you think others want your wedding to be. 

During their wedding ceremony, the priest said some very beautiful things. For example, he pointed out the fact that Lauri and George were sharing a very beautiful gift – of being present at the very moment when their two hearts become one. “What an intimate and inspiring moment that its!”

I hunted around for their wedding vows and finally watched their video five times to get excerpts down on my blog: 

George’s vows – “I, George, take you Lauri to be my wife, knowing that you will always be my best friend, my faithful partner, my one true love.”

Lauri’s vows – “In good times and tough times, building our dreams together, I will always be supportive and I will cherish you forever”
