Money/Card Boxes

Last week, I was drooling over the photos of money/card boxes from the US. But I almost fell off my chair when I realised that they were going for upwards of $120 !!!!!!!!
I realise this is an important item that brides forget and I certainly dont get my cards stolen at the wedding reception. At our engagement party, I lost track of the presents and cards that I am sure some may have even dropped on the way.

So I decided to make the boxes myself. I enlisted the help …

Bridal Earrings

I’ve been looking all over for simple elegant wedding earrings. The salesman at Jenny Packham recommended smaller earrings if you have a big head piece because there would be too many accessories competing for attention. She suggested small diamond studs if you are picking one of their head pieces.
These were the gorgeous earrings I first found online.

The problem with buying online is you really cant tell if it suits you. Some jewellers dont allow you to wear the earrings in store due to health reasons.
These were the other …

Head Band

Every since I saw the Jenny Packham head bands, I’ve been on the look out for a head band. Considering that Jenny Peckham only introduced these to the market in February, I think they would look very unique on any blushing bride of 2009.
Heres a photo of me in Jenny Packham’s store. The piece is made of Swarowski crystals and hand made in India. The head piece costs a considerable £245:

For brides in America, the company Band. do make these head pieces that I was very close to buying. …

Bvlgari Wedding Bands for Men

So I’m off to Hatton Garden this afternoon to get a bespoke wedding band that matches my engagement ring. There are so many jewellers at Hatton Garden that I didnt know where to look so I asked a friend of mine who got her engagement ring made there. She gave me the address of David Lawes, who she said is extremely relaxed and professional. When I met him, he said he couldnt be any more easy going because he would be horizontal!
Anyways, a few days ago on my training course …

Wedding Flowers

Since our trip to the New Covent Garden Market, I’ve been thinking of making the flowers for the wedding myself considering how cheap they are. The average UK bride spends £600 for flowers. I saw an American TV show called “Bridezillas” where the bride paid the florist $ 6,000 in CASH. A bit dodgy I would think! Anyways, I dont intend to spend a ridiculous amount of money on my flowers. I was thinking of the lovely yellow roses and putting them in a square vase. I saw a vase …

Whole sale Flowers

Upon the suggestion of another bridezilla, my fiance and I visited the New Covent Garden Market near Vauxhall yesterday. Its only one stop after Vauxhall train and underground station on the 344 Bus. Its open awfully early so that the trade florists can get their shops open. I wanted to write a post and share the prices as I couldnt find any information online. I recently went on a wedding forum on You and Your Wedding and some other brides kindly shared their prices with me. I still wanted to …

Stylists Tips

My stylist, the very fabulous Evan, recommended these tips:
1. Get a Hydrator facial 10 days before wedding day.
2. Night before the wedding – sleep normal time or even later. Never go to bed earlier, you will wake up earlier and get more tired in the morning. Try to maintain your normal sleep pattern.
3. Dont drink any water after 10.30. Your face will retain this water and you will look bloated in the photos.
4. Wash your hair the night before, no need to wash that morning. Dont go to sleep with …

Bridesmaids’ Presents

I scoured the internet and shops for the perfect bridesmaids presents. I want to give a present that they can be useful but also something that can remind them of the wedding (not something that finishes very easily) So after much deliberation, I finally found these gorgeous bags which I could have personalised to each bridesmaid’s name. They are hugely popular in the US and range from prices of $20 t0 $60. These are the ones I wanted for my bridesmaid:

Search under “Bridesmaid’s tote bag”. This also made me realise …

Thank you cards for Bridesmaids

I went to the two bookstores in my neighbourhood to buy some thank you cards for my bridesmaids and the groomsmen. A month more to go for my wedding but I just have the feeling I will forget small items like this so I best get them now than forget about it.
I really couldnt find any card that actually said “Thank you for being our bridesmaid”, all the cards were just Thank you or a photo. So I decided to make my own cards. One of my sisters in …

Making your own Bridal Veil

The first veil I ever tried on was a whopping £1000 at Carolina Castiligano. It was divine but the price that some brides pay for their dress and so I could not justify buying it. The veil that matches my dress at Pronovias retails at £350 but I didnt like how long it was and how intricate it was. I wanted a plain veil made out of veil tulle that would enhance the dress, not distract it. Also, Pronovias only sell veils that are of cathedral length (so hang out …
