Upon the recommendation of a friend of mine, we had my wedding band made at David Lawes in Hatton Garden, the diamond centre in London. I was a bit hesitant to have my wedding ring made in England considering how prices are inflated in this country. However, I didnt want to order it from Dubai again because it may not match the engagement ring exactly. My engagement ring had a prong so I wanted to make sure the wedding band would have a small slit so it would be a cozy fit.

David Lawes makes bespoke jewellry and he also supplies for shops such as Boodles. The entrance to his store is an unassuming grey door. You are led up the stairs through high security doors to his office. He gave us a tour of how my ring is made and shaped the wedding band so I would not have to leave my engagement ring there for a week. David explained that the technique to make the rings had not changed for hundreds of years. Interestingly, he said he predicted the UK credit crunch because diamond demand fell weeks before the recession. He also told me that last year in July, diamonds were sold for its highest price. In January 2009, diamonds were being sold for 40% below the market value. Girls – if you are reading this, there is no better excuse to get a diamond now at a bargain!

and of course I couldnt help but put another photo of my engagement ring. I sometimes think I must have a goldfish memory because I fall in love with my ring every time I see it. It makes me so happy when I look at it and to remember the adventure we undertook to make it. My husband was so generous and full of love that he let me have exactly what I want and then some more..
