Alice in Wonderland Themed Wedding
Ever since we had our wedding, I’ve been itching to throw another celebration but cannot seem to find an occasion that would deserve that sort of preparation. So I annoy my husband once in a while and ask him if he’s been planning my 30th birthday celebrations even though its almost 3 years away! I’d like to do something a little crazy but fun with a Alice in Wonderland themed party!
Ashlee Simpson, sister of the singer and reality star Jessica Simpson and Pete Wentz, bassist for American rock band Fall Out Boy, had a Alice in Wonderland themed wedding, complete with a Mad Hatter wedding cake! They held a non-denominational ceremony that was presided over by Ashlee’s dad, Joe Simpson, with sister Jessica, serving as bridesmaid. The wedding, which took place in the backyard of Joe and Tina Simpson’s Encino, California home and held 150 guests, including Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, “Scrubs” actor Donald Faison and girlfriend Cacee Cobb, as well as Jessica’s then boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
Ashlee wore wore an ivory lace Monique Lhuillier dress (isnt her veil amazing?sigh) and a diamond necklace with matching earrings. The groom more a Dior Homme tuxedo. Pete’s English bulldog, Hemingway served as the ringbearer. Bridesmaids wore black Vera Wang gowns and celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck catered the event.
The guests were ushered under white tents, which were decorated with black rugs, white couches with red pillows, black chandeliers and lots of red roses. The couple had requested a dark dress code. After taking the photos, Ashlee emerged in a black party dress, a ploy to hide her baby bump.
The wedding favours were a red box containing a cookie that, continuing the “Alice in Wonderland” theme, read, “Eat me.” How cool is that?
The multi-tiered caked was designed by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings, with a top hat base followed by tea kettle, flower pot and stop watch layers.

Here is a selection of the most amazing Alice in Wonderland Themed cakes I’ve found. Scroll down for – you guessed it – cupcakes!
