There have been some disturbing reports that whoopie cakes are the new cupcakes in town. No way! My cupcakeholic friend Karin and I strongly disagree. BUT we did squeal with delight when we saw macaroons at the recent TasteLondon event at Regents Park.
TasteLondon, promoted as ‘the world’s greatest restaurant festival’ was a bit hyped up for my taste (excuse the pun!) The tickets are quite expensive considering you still have to pay around £5 for an appetiser sized portion and it was a dreadful rainy day when we visited …

I saw this practical table arrangement tip on another wedding blog. The bride has decided to make a chart reflecting the actual location of the table. Then, all the wedding guests were listed in alphabetical order with the table name by the side.
The tables were named to reflect the story about the couple. E.g. the name of the university where they met. The guests were reported to have enjoyed discovering the story about the couple as they looked for their seats.
Just loooovely and really clever as well!

Wedding season is just around the corner – and the Royal Swedish wedding caught my eye. Crown Princess Victoria, heir to the Swedish throne, married her former personal trainer, the gym owner Daniel Westling on 19 June 2010 at Stockholm Cathedral. Over 250,000 people watched the wedding outside with only a select group of 1,000 wedding guests inside. The wedding was considered Sweden’s top event in its social calendar. Coincidently, Victoria shared the same wedding date as her parents, who were married 34 years ago. The 32 year old princess …

Over the weekend, I asked my best friend if she considered a backyard wedding. Already, the backyard wedding is a celebrity trend. Just ask Tori Spelling who wed Charlie Shanian in 2004 at the Beverly Hills estate of her father, TV producer Aaron Spelling… but then again most of us dont have a spare 56,000-foot garden. On a more relatable level, Elton John and David Furnish celebrated their 2005 wedding at John’s Windsor Estate, where guests socialised on two giant tents in his backyard. Liz Taylor married Larry Fortensky in …

My sister in law is having a wedding in Hawaii next year. I squealed in delight when I first heard the plans but having booked our very expensive flights and hotels to Hawaii last night, I can now see both the benefits and the downsides of having a destination wedding. I did suggest the Maldives at first!
A destination wedding is a wedding held in a location away from the couple’s home. It has been gaining increasing popularity and I even suggested it to my best friend. The destination wedding …

My favourite thing about June is that it brings peonies. They are my favourite flowers ever because they are just so delicate and full flowers. My only regret is that I didnt have a wedding in June because that is usually Peony season. Last year, there were peonies up to the first week of August. I only saw them in one flowershop in Shad Thames but they had sold out the day before my wedding. The florist said it was unusual for them to last this long so if you …
