Let them have cake!
You would never think a simple wedding cake would involve so much preparation and planning (believe me you do) So for the OCD and OTT people out there, here are a compilation of questions about your cake you might want to ask your cake maker:
Selection:
What type of cake would you like? A traditional fruit cake, a light sponge cake, a favourite flavour or even cupcakes? You may even have a combination of different flavours with different cakes on each tier. Remember to think about your wedding guest preferences, particularly if there is anyone with an allergy.
Would you like one big cake or a tiered cake?
Will there be an opportunity to sample the quality and taste of the cakes on offer?
Presentation:
How would you like to have your cake presented on a stand, flat or tiered?
How would you like to cut and distribute the cake? Would you like to serve it as desert or takeaway in favour boxes?
Would you like a cake topper? There are many creative ones out there modeled on the bride and groom (a cousin presented one to us on the wedding day as a gift, so we couldnt use it for the wedding as we didnt know what she had bought for us)
Practical Considerations:
Where is the cake being made? Is it easy to have your cake transported to the wedding venue?
Will the cake maker/caterer deliver the cake or will you need to delegate this responsibility to a groomsman or bridesmaid? Is there a delivery charge?
Who will be responsible for the knife and cake stand?
Is there a place to store your cake during the ceremony?
What is the cancellation/postponement policy with the cake maker?
