Oscar 2010 Wedding Dress inspiration

I’ve been meaning to post up photos from the 2010 Oscars where we saw a host of celebrities wearing white dresses which could easily translate into wedding dress speculation/inspiration – whichever side of the entertainment industry you are from!
Here are some of my favourites:
Jennifer Lopez in Armani Prive

Amanda Seyfried also in Armani Prive

Remember Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s wedding that featured Armani from start to finish? She wore an off-the-shoulder Armani gown with an ivory silk train adorned in Valenciennes lace and Swarovski beaded crystal embroidery and accessorized her …

Wedding Cufflinks

My new work place is so much more formal than the last one due to the number of client visits possible. Even on a friday, I notice almost all my colleagues are still wearing a crisp shirt, statement tie and the all important cufflink. I always like to see a man who can match his cufflinks to his tie and I’m even happier to see some unusual looking cufflinks like a rugby ball shaped cufflinks that I noted last week…. which then led me to think about wedding cufflinks. And …

Channel Style to your Wedding outfit

I’ve just started a new job and I met my Lead Associate last week who was an older serious looking woman. When I back to my desk yesterday, I was pleasantly suprised to see a glammed up colleague with a simple black dress and a beautiful strand of three pearls – what a difference some jewellry makes! Because the role involves a lot of client meetings, I imagined she had some pretty important meetings lined up yesterday.
The complete change of my colleague’s appearance prompted me to think about how …

Legal Ceremony Wedding Dresses

With a separate legal ceremony and a wedding reception all the rage now (or as I like to call it ‘exchange’ and then ‘completion’ ceremonies, my best friend and I discussed her upcoming legal ceremony. Whilst she considers her wedding reception to be held next year as ‘her wedding’, she also understands that her fiance’s family consider the legal ceremony as just as important. I recalled my legal ceremony – I was sick, wore a skimpy outfit in cold british weather and had held a bonquet of flowers from Marks …

White-House wedding!

Having blogged about the White House reception last week, I thought I’d share some photos and details of an almost-white-house wedding. On May 10, 2008, Jenna Bush (daughter of George Bush, then President of the US) and Henry Hager exchanged wedding vows at the Priarie Chapel Ranch near Crawford, Texas.

Breaking trading, the first family wedding was not broadcast live. But the White House did share some details and released 11 photos in the days after the wedding. I understand that for such a famous family, they wouldnt have wanted it …

Inspiration from the White House

Last month Barack Obama welcomed the Indian prime minister on the first state reception of his presidency. But, as a wedding enthusiast, my eyes were on the lovely Michelle Obama: what she would wear, and the reception she would throw…. and she did not disappoint!
Michelle Obama wore a strapless, gold and cream-coloured sheath dress with an overlay of silver and matching shawl that was designed by Indian designer Naeem Khan and made in India. It resembled the churidhar (or shawl) or the Indian salwar-keemeez! Michelle could have even looked like …

Bridesmaids Dresses

I pondered over the bridesmaids’ dresses for many months. There are so many styles and not all suit all bridesmaids. So my bridesmaid Sobie suggested that we wear Tibetan dresses. I asked my mother to buy me some green ones and when I saw them, I fell in love. I had also considered Indian clothes to reflect my Indian background but I thought it would be too stressful trying to put the saris on the day of the wedding.
So here are my gorgeous bridesmaids. The funniest thing is my …

Groomsmen Clothes

Ever cringed looking at groomsmen clothes? My husband was asked to be a best man a few years ago and the bride asked him to change his clothes with the groom. My husband was then dressed in an ugly English suit with light blue waistcoat. I’m sorry but I found it disastrous, something about waistcoats with the funny looking English ties look so ill fitting and chavvy to me. I do hope that brides do not purposely dress their groomsmen in such a bad way to make their husbands look …

Bridal Earrings

I’ve been looking all over for simple elegant wedding earrings. The salesman at Jenny Packham recommended smaller earrings if you have a big head piece because there would be too many accessories competing for attention. She suggested small diamond studs if you are picking one of their head pieces.
These were the gorgeous earrings I first found online.

The problem with buying online is you really cant tell if it suits you. Some jewellers dont allow you to wear the earrings in store due to health reasons.
These were the other …
