Ballroom and Latin Dances

Whist trying to find a Ballroom dancing course for my fiance and I, I stumbled upon some descriptions of the dance itself. At the same time, I was on a chat where brides were discussing table names. For those dance lovers out there, why not name your tables after the different dances? If you’re not keen on that, heres some information before you dive into the world of Ballroom and Latin Dancing…
Foxtrot
The Foxtrot was the most significant development in all of ballroom dancing. The combination of quick and slow steps …

Classical Wedding Music

I’ve been speaking regularly with my harpist for music for the wedding. I’m hiring a harpist for two hours for our wedding (30 minutes when guests arrive; 30 minutes during the ceremony; then an hours break and an hour’s music for the meal) She first suggested some light classical for the guests arrival - e.g. Debussy’s Premiere Arabesque, Rachmaninov’s Eighteenth Variation (from Somewhere in Time), Delibes’ Flower Duet, Paradisi’s Toccata, Massenet’s Theme from Thais etc.
For the ceremony, I made a special request for the Trumpet Voluntary song. My brother …

Real Housewives of Orange County Wedding

Tonight on Diva TV, Lauri Waring from Real Housewives of Orange County got married! Her ceremony was absolutely beautiful and has already given me so many ideas for our wedding because they follow the green, white and gold colour theme. Even her bridesmaids dresses are similar to the ones I have picked. Unfortunately my fiance and Lauri’s husband are separated by a few million, and we obviously cannot afford to hang crystals and orchids. Funnily enough, I even stumbled upon a site offering acrylic crystals like the ones featured at …

Jade Goody’s Wedding Vows

On saturday night, Living TV had a feature on Jade Goody’s wedding. For those unfamiliar with her, she is a UK TV celebrity who made a name for herself on reality TV. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer earlier this year and has organised a wedding in a week’s time to her boyfriend Jack Tweed. Jade is known to be a chavvy South Londoner but I thought her wedding was quite beautiful and the wedding vows were very touching. I even made my fiance sit through parts of their wedding …

Review of “The Wives’ book for the Wife who’s Best in Everything”

This Christmas, my fiance’s sister gave me the book “The Wives’ Book for the Wife who is Best at Everything.” I’ve seen the “Best in Everything” book in other topics so it was a pleasant suprise to receive this one! Its quite a good book with light reading - it has a bit of everything for everyone. It starts by introducing the role of the woman in the early days when there were no electronic devices and how the …

I was on another blog and I saw the most creative Save the Date item - these pencils that say “Pencil it in… with the groom and bride’s names and their dates” The couple had a classroom theme and it matches perfectly. I love it!!!! Wish I had done them before I did my fridge magnets… but then again my fiance prefers the fridge magnet over these pencils…

Im a big Gossip Girl fan and last night I watched the wedding of Eleanor and Mr. Rose. It was so wonderful how intimate and simple the ceremony was. The bride and groom said their own vows. Mr. Rose said ‘I take you Elenaor as yourself’ and she said “I am my beloved, my beloved is mine.’

It got me thinking about alternatives to the usual wedding vow - I, (Bride/Groom), take you (Groom/Bride), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, …

Last week, I wrote two posts on how to ask for money. But then I thought about how it would be seen to a wedding guests. My personal opinion is that if you badger on about how you need money then it might irritate your wedding guests. However, if you say something like “You dont need to buy us a present, but if you want to, save your money and just give us cash so we can use it”
Yesterday, my fiance and I received this email (oh the horror!) invitation …

Dress Codes for Weddings and Special Ocassions

I’ve been drafting my wedding invites and am stuck on how to ask my guests to dress formal for our wedding. I guess other brides would be having the same dillema. I think its extremely rude if guests turn up dressed scruffily at weddings because its so disrespectful to the couple and the effort they put into the wedding. Just as you dress up for job interviews, you should look just as presentable at someone’s wedding. I am even tempted to ask the bouncers at my venue to not let …
