I spent the whole of friday trying to make cupcakes with my good friend. We tried two different recipes, the tried and tested one and the newer one from the cupcake course. We realise that cupcakes rise if you use butter and if you use the fan assisted option of your oven. So finally on our fourth attempt, we made perfectly flat cupcakes, only to burn them because I wasnt looking! DOH.
Anyways, I was online today looking at cupcake stands. I found three varieties and they seem very cheap …

This past weekend, I was at the Kensington Roof Gardens where they had a vendor fair. With free drinks and a gift bag, how could I resist? I even took my photographer so he could check out the venue before our wedding. I took some photos of two cupcake stands. Considering that there were only about 10-15 vendors at the event, and two of them were cupcake makers has really convinced me that there is a growing market for wedding cupcakes. I overheard one of the ladies say that the …

We’ve been doing calculations over corkage fees for several hours now. Some have a very high fee to discourage couples from buying cheap alcohol from other vendors and others have minimum fees to pay for the dishwasher and waiter services. I never knew corkage fees could be one of the budget traps. I’ve also been reading other forums on corkage fee and one couple recounted how their venue said it was £2,000 but as soon as they said they could not afford the venue, the corkage fee was brought down …

As you may or may not have realised, Im quite the cupcake fanatic and my friends even think my cupcake obsession is quite funny (and they enjoy being the recipients of all my cupcake experiments even more). So I decided to enroll in a proper cupcake making course. I signed up for the Cakes4fun cupcake course in Putney. They have a range of classes - from decorating cakes to all sorts of cupcake decorations. The wedding cupcake course costs £99 and the normal cupcake course costs £75. By now, Im …

I just found this creative cupcake creation on another blog. I dont think I’ll make a wreath like this because it looks a bit like those Halloween/Christmas wreaths you put on your door…but if this is your “thang” as my cousin says…
Alternatively, I love the idea of making flowers from a cupcake - this could be an interesting way to dress up your little cupcakes - maybe even using different coloured cupcake cases?
and up close…
Instructions:
1. Begin by pinning the end of your ribbon to the backside of your …

I stumbled upon these cupcake wrappers on another bride’s blog and thought they were so whimsical and sweet. However, one must note that you cannot actually bake the cupcakes in these cupcake wrappers, you bake them in the cupcake cases and then drop them into these wrappers for that special touch.
The premier store which sells the cupcake wrapper - Estilo Weddings. They have a huge variety of cupcake wrappers and I can just imagine that they add the “wow” factor. But they are not cheap - $12 for 10 of …

Today, I’ve been at Queen’s Cub in Kensington on a chocolate making course. I first saw a feature on chocolate making by the Chocolate Delight company in the London Paper, a local newspaper. The classes run on weekends and are between £55-100. My course on Sunday at 2 pm was for £57. The course includes all ingredients and as many marshmallows in chocolate fountain as you can eat.
The course instructor was a very lively chocolatier called Alan and he pads out the course by explaining the history of chocolate and some …

I’ve been looking for some cookie cutters ever since I saw what other brides did. I just called up my fiance’s sister and she said she really liked the idea as well. She knows a company that does cookies with messages but it is about 8 pounds per cookie. I think thats a bit too pricey for wedding favours when you have about 100 guests.
Also, I went on ebay and found that these cookie cutters cost just as much as I would buy them online. On ebay, there arent that …

I glanced into a wedding magazine the other day and saw one bride had personalised cookies which doubled up as place cards and wedding favours. How novel and cool is that? The fact that each cookies is personalised means that people will realise the work and effort put into it. It would be a waste if some people didnt turn up, as I know on some occassions, a few guests dont show up because of an illness or death in the family.
Anyways, here are some ideas of wedding cookies. Im …
