Traditional Wedding Favours

I missed the wedding of a dear friend who I have known since university as it was in India over the time my parents were visiting me here in London But being the thoughtful friend he is, the lovely couple gave us their wedding favour. Most wedding favours are candles, soaps, or almonds (all under the cost of a pound or five)…. but not this couple!
I love how grand Indian weddings are. Families spend their entire life savings to re-create a movie like set in the context of …

Fill me in Posters

Whilst trawling the notonthehighstreet.com website, I came across a “fill me in ” poster which I bought for my big 30th birthday party coming up. I thought it would be fun to get my guests to colour in and write their names/wishes in the little bubble. Also, this would make for an interesting activity or talking point as I would love my guests to mingle.

This got me thinking this would make such a great guest book alternative… and especially if you can hang this in your home and cherish the …

Cake Trends for 2013

The buzz on the wedding grape vine is that an eye popping, spectacular cake is a key wedding theme for 2013. As a cake (or maybe more precisely cupcake) lover, I would not disagree. It can serve as a centre piece for your wedding and feed all the guests too! In fact, one of the main events (and photography wise) is the cutting of the wedding cake.
Traditionally, the groom and bride would cut the cake and send a piece home with each guest. However, the trend is now to serve …

Children or No Children at Weddings

Almost every bride has faced this dillemma – myself included- on whether or not and how to NOT invite children at weddings. They are a messy, screaming bunch and can be unpredictable to seat and accomodate. In the end, I wrote ‘Regrets no children under the age of 1 as there are no baby chairs at the venue’ which was true! but also a more diplomatic way to deflect attention to the venue restrictions. I began searching for other bride’s recommendations on handling this sensitive issue, here are a selection …

Save the Date Luggage Tag

Our friends, Janet and Paul sent us these lugage tags Save-the-Dates in our christmas cards this year, which slipped out just as I opened the cards. What a lovely suprise! On the reverse, they had printed details of their wedding website which gave information on holiday prices and trip suggestions. I really liked the idea because its such a fun, creative way to announce the Save the Date and to give details of the wedding, particularly where its long haul and guests need to start booking annual leave as soon …

Rock a Pink Wedding Dress!

Jessica Biel’s petal pink Giambattista Valei Haute couture dress with bridesmaids in white dresses turned the conventional wedding dress stereotype on its head – who said it has to always be white! The bride was truly blushing in such a blush tone dress. In an interview in Hello magazine, she explained that she made the unusual choice. “Giambattista Valli is a very good friend and I was really comfortable talking to him about something as important as this…You know how hard it is to choose the dress… But what it …

Angelina Jolie’s Engagement Ring

The gorgeous Angelina debuted a her engagement ring on April 11 at the Chinese Galleries in LA. Whilst Brad Pitt has been said to have painstakingly spent a year designing and sourcing the ring, there are already a host of lookalike rings.

Easter Themed Wedding

Did anyone throw or attend an Easter wedding? I love spring but I’m biased because Im born in April! The combination of fresh Spring sunshine, the bank holidays, and abundance of chocolates makes an Easter wedding look so sprightly and bright. Plus, the fact that Easter represents growth and renewal is so symbolic of a wedding and the growth of a new family.
Some brides have chosen to throw Easter themed weddings around a rabbit, chick, or egg theme. Spring colours – particularly pastel this year – in creams, yellows, pinks, …

Canapes in Edible Spoons

I’ve just had a peek at a wedding with fancy French canapes. I’ve seen department stores sell the cheaper plastic ones…. and then I saw a brilliant shot of edible spoon. How fantastic is that?

Perfect presentation and no mess afterwards. Come to think of it, you could even use it for dinner parties. I came across an Indian entrepreneur’s company – B.K. Environmental Innovations Private Limited that manufactures eco-friendly forks, knives, spoons and chopsticks in delicious flavours of vanilla, strawberry and pineapple. Check them out!
