Tiffany Blue and Yellow Theme

So I did a little more research into Tiffany Blue and Yellow (Linda’s original choices) and I found a few to give us some inspiration. I didnt realise that Tiffany Blue could range anywhere from quite a strong blue to a very light pale blue shade and that yellow could also be toned down. Personally, I would prefer lighter colours so they wont be competing for attention in the photos. Also, keep in mind your skin tone and colour. Fairer skinned brides could carry off a very strong colour (think …

Tiffany Blue and Red Weddings

Now that my wedding is over, I know I’ve neglected this blog a little. But recently, my best friend Linda got engaged in the US and I now have the energy and enthusiasm to do some wedding planning. I bombarded her with a million questions when she first broke the news - When do you plan to get married? Where? Do you know what type of ceremony you want to do? She laughed at my over-enthusiasm. She hasnt figured out all the decisions yet. She may do a legal ceremony …

Inspiration from the White House

Last month Barack Obama welcomed the Indian prime minister on the first state reception of his presidency. But, as a wedding enthusiast, my eyes were on the lovely Michelle Obama: what she would wear, and the reception she would throw…. and she did not disappoint!
Michelle Obama wore a strapless, gold and cream-coloured sheath dress with an overlay of silver and matching shawl that was designed by Indian designer Naeem Khan and made in India. It resembled the churidhar (or shawl) or the Indian salwar-keemeez! Michelle could have even looked like …

Kensington Roof Gardens photos

So I thought I’d post a few photos of my gorgeous wedding venue. I first attended the venue at a law school ball and I was blown away by how gorgeous it was. I had remarked to my friend Cecilia at that time that if I ever got married, I’d want to get married at the Roof Gardens. I didnt even know that the venue organised weddings because it is used as a club. So when I got engaged and made queries, I was tingling with excitement. I was over …

Flowers at the Wedding

I had three main flowers at the wedding: my bridal bonquet, the flower arrangements on the table, and the bridesmaids bonquet. I decided to get the bridal bonquet made professionally because I’ve heard it is the most important flower arrangement. I wanted to save costs on the rest of the flower arrangements because I heard that flowers can be misleadingly expensive. The average American bride spends $1600 on flowers alone!
Anyways, back to the bridal bonquet, I went down to Chez Michelle (sounds like a restaurant doesnt it?) at Borough Market. …

Place cards & Table Names

So some more photos of our place cards:

These were actually just from Tescos store, in sets of 20. They are in their dinner party range. I lost a few of them and had to make a mad dash to the super market the night before the wedding. Thank god for Tesco’s 24 hour shopping and a very kind friend who drove my bridesmaid and me there.
The table name cards, the Peony table:

Table Decor

So finally I have some photos of my tables at my recent wedding. All the wedding details came together like a dream, in fact, it came together even better than I could have ever dreamt of. I know that Im biased but Im so pleased with how all the table runners, flowers, and other table decorations fit.
So I have my table runners that I made myself in different shades of green:

and close up…

I chose these olive green sashes to go with our green theme. Against a white chair cover, …

Money/Card Boxes

Last week, I was drooling over the photos of money/card boxes from the US. But I almost fell off my chair when I realised that they were going for upwards of $120 !!!!!!!!
I realise this is an important item that brides forget and I certainly dont get my cards stolen at the wedding reception. At our engagement party, I lost track of the presents and cards that I am sure some may have even dropped on the way.

So I decided to make the boxes myself. I enlisted the help …

Wedding Flowers

Since our trip to the New Covent Garden Market, I’ve been thinking of making the flowers for the wedding myself considering how cheap they are. The average UK bride spends £600 for flowers. I saw an American TV show called “Bridezillas” where the bride paid the florist $ 6,000 in CASH. A bit dodgy I would think! Anyways, I dont intend to spend a ridiculous amount of money on my flowers. I was thinking of the lovely yellow roses and putting them in a square vase. I saw a vase …

Whole sale Flowers

Upon the suggestion of another bridezilla, my fiance and I visited the New Covent Garden Market near Vauxhall yesterday. Its only one stop after Vauxhall train and underground station on the 344 Bus. Its open awfully early so that the trade florists can get their shops open. I wanted to write a post and share the prices as I couldnt find any information online. I recently went on a wedding forum on You and Your Wedding and some other brides kindly shared their prices with me. I still wanted to …
