Hanging Lamp Shades

Ever since I spied these hanging lamp shades in the “love butterfly” themed wedding look at Confetti, I’ve been thinking about using hanging lamp shades. They need not be lighted as my wedding is a day long affair. In addition, if you painted or sprayed them different colours, that would suffice.

I then saw that my friend attended a wedding where another bride had used similar lamp shades:

I think the effect is lovely but could look even more stylish if there were hanging lamp shades of various sizes and …

Chinese Flower Table Names

This past weekend, my bridesmaids and I spent making our table name place cards. After much thought about a way to incorporate my fiance’s Chinese heritage, we have decided to use Chinese flowers and a brief description of what the flowers symbolise. These would then match our favours which are Chinese themed. A big THANK YOU to my hard working sisters in law who worked so hard to find the characters online and cut such perfect lines. One of my bridesmaids was so funny, she said “I am a Legend” …

Make your own Flowers

I found these beautiful flowers made by a crafty bride to be on another blog. Isnt this lovely?

I think it actually has an oriental touch to it, and resembles orchids.
These are photos to instruct you how to make them yourselves. Here are the materials:

And for the templates to make the individual flowers:

Wedding Books

When I first started researching about weddings, a friend suggested the Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine. Unfortunately, they are published in America so buying them here in the UK costs about £4 each. In the US, I think you could get them for a quarter of this price and free shipping. When I saw how lovely the ideas were, I was almost tempted to order them and make my cousin mail them from the US. Then I realised that Martha Stewart had a book on weddings published. I bought it immediately …

Tiffany Inspired Weddings

Ever since I saw that Tiffany inspired nest of boxes as a wishing box, I cant help think about a beautiful Tiffany inspired wedding. Whilst looking at other forums, I saw that Tiffany inspired birthday parties are all the rage for sweet sixteen year olds as well. So if you have a Tiffany ring, love New York, or even the movie, here are some Tiffany inspired items:

Maybe gift bags for all the bridesmaids and grooms men?

Very creative centre pieces. Not sure exactly if the pale pink flowers match …

Card Boxes

One of the most important duties is keeping the card box safe. This is particularly important because guests bring some of the most thoughtful and heartfelt cards and sometimes even money inside them. I remember that at our engagement party, we had so much trouble remembering where we put all our cards that I am sure we might have even missed some or lost some!
So I stumbled upon this gorgeous Tiffany box inspired card box:

Particularly suitable if the bride is called Tiffany right? I actually adore the Tiffany blue and …

Tulips at Wedding

Just saw this on another bride’s blog and looove them!
I think I’ll have square or rectangle vases and put as make the tulips overflow. I’m hoping to get two toned tulips so that it adds more colour. Maybe something that it white and green or green and yellow or even yellow and white? hmmm…. I think even the transparent glass vases look gorgeous because the green of the flowers can show through.

I heard that this seasons ‘It’ colour is coral. Love how the tulips looks so heavenly and colourful.

I …

Balloons at Weddings

I know that the first thing you think of when you hear the word balloon is probably a kid’s birthday parties but these wedding photos just blew me away. But I think the balance is getting balloons that are not tacky so maybe buying better quality balloons and making sure it reflects the colour scheme in a very classy way.

and then more…

They would even look great for engagement shoots:

If you’re thinking of using balloons later on, how about using them for the reception or on the deserts table?

If white …

Bridesmaids’ Corsage

I attended another wedding this past weekend where the bridesmaids wore corsage. I love the idea more and more, making me slightly nostalgic about prom night when I was in high school. The corsages free the bridesmaids arms during the ceremony and saves on the flowers costs (only if you are making them yourselves) My sister in law suggested the gerber daisies but I would prefer having a few small flowers than one big one.

Here are some that I found on my research and I thought I’d share them …

Table Numbers

A few weekends ago, I went to a friend’s Chinese banquet. On the tables, we saw some beautiful place cards and matching table numbers that featured cut out flowers. Then a few days ago, I saw that the table numbers were advertised on a magazines from Marks and Spencers (British supermarket) – who knew these supermarkets could produce such chic things?
Anyways, I thought I’d show you how the place cards looked on the tables in case it inspires anyone else. Also, I think the flowers really pop out if …
