Rule 1: Never hesitate to ask. I’ve always believed in ‘if you dont ask, you dont get’ just as ‘if you dont dream, you dont achieve.’ BUT not in a greedy-in-your-face-vulgar way please! Even if you are refused, you should still smile and thank the person because they may just find a room for you afterwards. When we went to Paris for our trip, I asked the hotel manager and as soon as she found out that I was Tibetan, she upgraded our room to one with a view of …

With wedding season in full swing, I find more red routemaster buses passing by every day. I always thought it was an original and cool way to ferry your wedding guests from the church/registrar to the reception.
In addition to the gimmick of an iconic London tradition, the red routemaster bus offers many advantages. Firstly, there are more seats on the bus than hiring a fleet of cars. Typically, these buses fit about 64-72 seats and I can imagine more guests can stand in between. It is also a convenient …

My sister in law is having a wedding in Hawaii next year. I squealed in delight when I first heard the plans but having booked our very expensive flights and hotels to Hawaii last night, I can now see both the benefits and the downsides of having a destination wedding. I did suggest the Maldives at first!
A destination wedding is a wedding held in a location away from the couple’s home. It has been gaining increasing popularity and I even suggested it to my best friend. The destination wedding …

So this past weekend, I was in the Big Apple (New York City) for a totally fabulous bachelorette party. We kick started with the Sex and City bus tour, run by On Location Tours Inc. I think there are actually a few more Sex and City bus tours as I saw other groups from different buses. The tours are hugely popular, particularly on the weekend and in the afternoon slots. We booked ours for the 2.30 slot but were made to wait for an extra half hour since some of …

I’ve been preparing for my bachelorette party in NYC for a month now. After debating dates forever, I finally made up my mind to call the American embassy and book an appointment. The website says that the average waiting time is 38 days – from my experience, it could be even longer. I wish I had booked an appointment the moment I even considered going to the US because the waiting time is so long.
The first appointment I was given was the end of June. You have to ring …

I saw a query in the newspaper about the cheapest time to visit New York. This might be of use to those planning honeymoons. I can imagine that after the hefty wedding bill, brides are looking for the best bargains on holidays as well.
The cheapest time to visit anywhere is when no one else wants do. On American public holidays, they are more likely to want to be at home with their families. Get an American calendar and pick few holiday weekends like Memorial Day (25 May) Labour Day (7 …

I’ve been thinking about my honeymoon but I’ve been really worried about all the places I can visit because I’m still an Indian citizen and we usually have problems travelling everywhere and anywhere. I’ve been looking online and I found that there are 45 countries and territories that grant visa free or visa on arrival access to ordinary Indian passport holders. However, access is not necessarily a right and admissions may be at the discretion of border enforcement officers. I know for a fact that an Indian can travel to …

This newspaper article has inspired me to collect Frequent Flyer points. I have 18,000 so far on my Virgin Flight and I want to redeem it for a free holiday. I dont think it will go as far as a honeymoon but for some other money savvy brides, perhaps this could help:
According to my research on the Virgin Flying Club:
Dubai and New York needs 38, 250 or 22, 500 points
India, Barbados needs 50,000 points
Hong Kong needs 60,000 points.
Heres the article for some inspiration:
A couple spent three months trawling the streets …

My fiance and I really want to go to Hong Kong and India to do some wedding shopping. Or even New York. The UK is just over priced and doesnt offer the range that other countries offer. For example, in the US, you get Vera Wang and Monique Lhullier dresses at different sizes. When I went to try them on here in the UK, they are all either Size 2 or Size 12 and then they take 6 months or so to alter it to your size. Its a bit …
